COLLECTING ALGAE On Sunday we collected algae from different areas. At first we were divided into 6 groups. When we got into our groups we were given different locations to collect algae from. After a while we all got back together and had to determine the names of the algae. Before we started searching for their names we placed the algae on art paper. We had to cover the algae with a piece of stocking so they could nicely dry and stick to the paper underneath. We also put a piece of newspaper on each alga so it would absorb almost all the sea water from them. When all the algae were covered, we put them all on top of each other. We also had to put some heavy weight on top of the pile so they could compress completely. We learned a lot from this mission, we learned many new names and species of algae that live in our beautiful sea.
