COLLECTING PLANTS Wednesday afternoon we went to Morkan. To get there we had to climb a hill and at the top we saw the church of St. Martin. We also went so we could find more plants for our herbarium. After our long walk we came back and determined the names of the plants which we had found that afternoon. Now I would like to tell you about a few special plants. Firstly we have the common origanum. Origanum is a plant that grows wild in the Mediterranean. It’s suitable for making pizzas (to add a nice flavour), against coughing, stomach aches etc… Next is the common fig. Tea made of figs is good to cure coughing. Now we have the carob. Grind carobs are put in different teas against coughing. Carobs are also used for making brandy. Last of all we have the olive tree. In November and December we pick the olives from the trees and produce Olive oil from them. Friday morning we went diving in the sea to find some animals and algae that you can see in the first photo below.
