BACTERIA'S On Wednesday, 10 days before we came to Prišćapac, we went to the laboratory in Vela Luka. We took Petries bowls. There are two types of Petries bowls, one is the nutritive base of blood and the other one is an agar base. We had to prove the presence of bacteria in air, water and soil. For proving the presence of bacteria in air we held the Petries bowls open in different places for 5 minutes while walking around so the bacteria could spread out evenly. After that we closed the bowls and put them at room temperature to settle for 5 days. Every 12 hours we watched and marked what happened on the surface of the bases of the Petries bowls. When we had to prove the presence of bacteria in the soil, we marked the Petries bowls so we would know which sample it was. We took some sand with sterilised test tubes and prepared the beaker with 20ml of sterilised water. We put a few sprinkles of soil in the sterilised water and shaked it around a little. Then we put the sterilised stick into the solution of water and soil and spreaded it onto the surface of the base of the Perties bowl. Proving the presence of bacteria in the water was the same method. After all those experiments we concluded that our sea, air and soil are the clearest in the Mediterranean. Our results are excellent. We compared all our results with world standards and we can recommend to you to enjoy our Mediterranean Sea and sun which we’ll try to save it for the future generations.
